She opened the bag and took out all the toys
She was ecstatic before as visible in her eyes
It was a bag full of toys but none were for her
And yet she cared to smile for her lovely little brother
Whether a sign of affection or sister’s duty?
A quest to find the answer made none to notice her pity
She was just a small girl having many dreams in her eye
Wonder how many more sacrifices down the journey for her would lie

She was a grown woman by now, wishing to marry a guy of her choice
But conscious of the fact that she wouldn’t be able to raise her voice
Yet, like the other day, she was ready to surrender
Going against her parent’s wish was the last thing she would prefer
She accepted her fate without uttering a word
Hoping against the hope that it wouldn’t be the end of the world
A sense of understanding was what she expecting from her better half
Wonder under which coffin she buried her gorgeous laugh!

A moment of joy came when she became a mother
But giving heir to the family was all they cared
Again a bag of toys came, again they were only for a baby boy
Wonder what wrong her twin daughter did for not receiving a single toy!
She was crying from within as tears started rolling down
As she lost her hope to see her daughter too in the crown
She said nothing and closed her eyes
It was her silence at that moment that was reflecting her cries

They both were grown-ups by then
Boy with a degree but girl still fettered in chain
For their good, she sacrificed her coveted career
Yet felt guilty for not providing her girl the best care
I remember the old times when she was begging like anything
Making her daughter literate too was her only longing
But a peril of her daughter’s demise smothered her wish again
Yet one more time she ached in utter pain

She was on a deathbed now, crying for help
But except her daughter’s, no other heart melt
Finally, she took her last breath on her daughter’s lap
Yet they condemned her for not adding a feather in their cap
The story could have been different if she had dared to fight
And if everyone had acknowledged the value of a woman’s life
Even a girl has a right to live by her dreams and wishes
Hope one day the Sun will rise by crossing all the breaches
