Few days back, Mr Aamir Khan, the perfectionist, had made a statement. Was it a big one? I am not sure though. But, the way our media had highlighted it and the way it stirred many Indians to respond in utter wrath, it seemed as if the statement was truly a big one. But, was it big just because an eminent personality like Mr Aamir had said it or did his statement really hold any ground? And what if the same statement had been made by a common man, like you or me? Would it have been that big or important to provoke the same media to have its coverage all the time? Forget about the press, would the same people have reacted to it in the same way? Sorry to say, but I guess, it would be the case of common men being over-optimistic if they start expecting a massive response to their whether small or big, whether ordinary or interesting statements. Sorry to divulge the truth, but I guess, it would be the case of insanity where expecting a massive response to a common man’s statement is just like expecting an atheist to believe in God. L

Now, coming back to the main question, i.e. did Mr Khan’s very statement hold any ground? Or, was it completely baseless? If you ask me, I would say he was correct while mentioning his wife’s concern over bringing up their child in India due to growing issues like religion, communism, etc. But, that’s when what he said afterwards started to mold into a controversy. He stated that he is living in a country where people are so intolerant that it has become tough for any parents to find an ideal place to nurture their child.
Mr. Aamir, as a father, you are right in envisioning to secure your child’s future; as a committed husband, you are right in advocating your wife’s concern; and even as a citizen of India, you have every right to enjoy a freedom of speech. It is just the statement well fabricated by the media and blind faith in such media of a few narrow-minded people that led to this controversy, as we, the rest of wise people, know that you didn’t have any intention to defame India as such.

But still Mr. Khan, let me confirm you that if anyone intentionally dares to ride onto defaming India as an intolerant country, then that very person getting condemned by people of India (whether they are narrow-minded or wise or a mixture of both) is as common as expecting light after darkness, and it serves justice as equal as punishing a culprit. By saying such a blasphemous statement (if they say), people like such unknowingly tell us how narrow-minded and coward they are; by saying such an irreverent statement (if they say), they prove to the world that it’s not India but people like them are actually intolerant and don’t want to venture out further anymore for fighting against issues that India is currently grappling with.

Before signing off, my humble request to people who think India is intolerant (if there are any) - If you want to leave India, you are free to walk out, but at least don’t defile my country, which is by the way far better to live in than countries like Syria and Iraq. Fortunate as it seems, it looks like you haven’t tasted the worst of the intolerance like what people of such countries are going through right now.
